The Rotary Club of Rosarito will host the fourth annual Rosarito Wine Festival on July 11, bringing together Baja California wineries, local chefs and live entertainment for a fundraising event benefiting children in need.
The festival begins at 4 p.m. at the Metropolitan Convention Center and is expected to draw more than 800 attendees, prompting organizers to move the event to a larger venue this year.
Proceeds will support programs serving vulnerable children in Rosarito, including Olas para Todos, a nonprofit that provides surf therapy for children with Down syndrome and autism, the Centro de Atención Múltiple, which offers vocational training for children with disabilities, and Casa Hogar Horizontes, a children’s home serving orphaned youth.
Rosario Castillo Zeja, president of the festival’s organizing committee, said the event continues to grow each year while expanding its charitable impact.
Guests will receive a commemorative wine glass, 10 wine tastings and 10 food samples featuring dishes prepared by approximately 27 chefs alongside wines from 25 Baja California wineries.
Among the featured chefs is Josefina Sánchez of Hacienda Badú and Carnitas Los Panchos, who has represented Baja California’s traditional cuisine at national events. She will serve her signature carnitas along with a special fresh tuna tostada recipe.
Participating wineries include Barón Balché, Château Camou, Cetto, Decantos, Don Tomás, Xecué and more than a dozen other producers from the region.
The festival will also feature live entertainment beginning at 4 p.m., including a performance by Mariachi Son de Tijuana.
Tickets are 1,200 pesos.
