Free two-day celebration will feature live music, folkloric dance, a fireworks display, rodeo and a civic parade
Primo Tapia will celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day with a two-day program of music, folkloric performances, traditional food and family activities on September 15 and 16 at José Cruz Navarro Park.
The celebration will be free and open to the public, with a lineup of local and visiting performers, a traditional “Grito de Independencia,” a fireworks display, a rodeo and a civic parade involving members of the community.
During a press conference, Primo Tapia Delegate Jaime Peña and community representatives announced details of the festivities and invited residents from across Rosarito to attend.
Activities on September 15 will begin at 5 p.m. with live instrumental music, followed by performances throughout the evening. The schedule includes the Macuilxochitl folkloric ballet from CECyTE at 5:15 p.m., Mexica Nahualli Tlalli dance at 6:30 p.m., and the Huehuecoyotl Ballet of Santa Anita and Ballet Primo Tapia at 7 p.m.
At 8 p.m., the program will feature a presentation of the local queens, followed by a performance by Romanza Mexicana. At 9 p.m., Mayor Rocío Adame will lead the traditional Independence Day “Grito.”
Mariachi Premier will perform at 9:30 p.m., accompanied by the traditional burning of the castle, a Mexican Independence Day fireworks tradition. Edición Norteña will take the stage at 10 p.m., followed by Grupo Destello and Banda de Baja California Sur, Siempre Alegre. The musical program is expected to continue until midnight.
Peña said safety measures will be in place for the fireworks display. Municipal Civil Protection officials have already inspected the area where the pyrotechnics will be set off, and organizers said the delegation has met the required safety measures for the event.
On September 16, the festivities will continue with a civic parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will depart from the local police station and make its way to the park.
A Super Bull event, titled “El Reto Patrio,” will also be held in the upper area of the venue.
