In response to an agreement with the Secretary of Citizen Security during a session of the Business Coordinating Council, former COTUCO president Edgar Orozco Zamora is finalizing a proposal for a tourist guide focused on preventive information.
The proposal submitted to public security authorities includes a QR code that would be available at local tourist businesses. Visitors could scan it with their phones to access and download the guide.
The document offers basic, easy-to-understand information about civic defense resources available to the public under local regulations. It also includes key points from the city’s traffic laws, such as reasons a vehicle may be towed and the rights of foreign drivers—clearly outlining what both drivers and tourists are permitted or not permitted to do.
Orozco, a furniture retailer, introduced the idea during a recent Business Coordinating Council meeting attended by Secretary of Citizen Security Héctor Manzo Ruvalcaba.
The initiative aims to equip tourists with essential knowledge to help prevent abuse and extortion by local police officers.
During the meeting, Secretary Manzo acknowledged business leaders’ interest in contributing ideas to eliminate outdated practices within the Municipal Police.
He also thanked Orozco for volunteering to develop the guide, which highlights the most important elements of local traffic regulations for distribution among tourists and residents.
The proposal is currently in its final design phase before being presented to public security authorities for approval and public release.
