As part of Children’s Day celebrations, 48 fifth-grade students from both public and private schools in Playas de Rosarito took part in the “Child Public Officials 2025” program organized by the State Secretariat of Education.
For one day, the children assumed honorary roles in various municipal departments, experiencing firsthand the responsibilities of public service. Each participant received a backpack and a tablet as part of the initiative.
The program aims to create spaces for children to freely express themselves. Juan Carlos Huerta Ávila, the local delegate, emphasized the importance of empowering children and encouraging their active participation in civic life.
“It’s vital that girls and boys present ideas that promote the rights of children and exercise their right to be heard,” Huerta Ávila said.
Twelve finalists—one from each of the four school zones in Rosarito—were selected to present oral speeches on children’s rights. Among them, Isi Nicole Montoya Barragán was sworn in as the honorary Mayor of Playas de Rosarito. She represented 47 other students with the highest academic scores in the city, all of whom were assigned symbolic roles as public servants.
