In an effort to support the rescue of abandoned dogs, visual artist Rocio Hoffmann created a powerful series of paintings titled “Ugly Dogs and Cats”, capturing the raw reality faced by many pets left to survive on their own — and offering a glimpse of hope for a better life.
A longtime advocate for animals and nature, Hoffmann has consistently used both her resources and her artistic talent to make a difference. “This series was created to support Huellitas Enjambre, a local nonprofit that rescues dogs, covers veterinary expenses, provides medicine, temporary shelter, and works tirelessly to find them loving homes,” she explained.
Hoffmann donates 20% of all sales commissions from the series directly to the organization, helping sustain its life-saving work. The unique pieces are currently available at Canela Pet Shop and Polo’s Fine Art Gallery in Popotla.
“I always donate my work to humanitarian causes — a piece here, a piece there — but this need is ongoing,” she added. “There are always abandoned animals because people don’t spay or neuter their pets. They just leave them behind. So I decided to make this support permanent — a small gesture that can have a lasting impact.”
