In an effort to strengthen education in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), the Secretary of Education (SE), in coordination with the Economic Development Advisory Council of Playas de Rosarito (CCDER), inaugurated the second computer lab and a commemorative mural at Micaela Aguilera Topete Technical Secondary School No. 13.
The new lab is crucial for promoting STEAM education, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It prepares students for future careers that will require proficiency in these fields while also developing soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and creativity.
The lab offers an interdisciplinary approach, integrating various areas of knowledge, and provides a comprehensive, innovative, and relevant education for the 21st century.
Alongside the computer lab, the external mural “The Adventure of Learning,” created by artist and muralist Enrique Chiu with collaboration from current and former students, was unveiled.
This mural aims to promote the arts and sciences within the Ejido Primo Tapia community.
Juan Santana Bosquet, president of the CCDER, announced that six additional STEAM projects are in development for preschool, primary, and secondary levels, set to be implemented in various areas of the municipality during this school year.
He noted that the mural and the lab serve as reminders that education extends beyond textbooks; it encompasses experiences, projects, art, and science. In this lab, students will not only use technology but also learn to create solutions that benefit society.
School authorities emphasized that the new computer lab will significantly aid students in semi-presential classes, especially for those without internet access or personal computers.
