Creating alternative routes to the Rosarito-Tijuana Scenic Highway and improving hotel infrastructure to accommodate attendees of the 2025 Tianguis Turístico at the Baja Center are among the challenges the city will face as it hosts this major binational event.
Mayor Rocío Adame expressed regret that Rosarito was initially left out of the hotel directory for Tianguis Turístico attendees. Upon taking office, she committed to offering at least 500 rooms in the participating hotel directory.
“When we took over, Rosarito wasn’t even considered as a lodging option. Tijuana and Ensenada were, but we weren’t. So, we committed to securing 500 rooms to offer and include in that directory for people coming to the Tianguis Turístico,” she explained.
She urged hoteliers to improve their infrastructure to take advantage of the influx of tourism service providers attending the Tianguis Turístico.
The mayor also pointed out that only a single toll road currently leads to Baja Center, where the event will be held. A project to connect the toll road to the free highway is being planned by the State Government’s Infrastructure Department, although details have not yet been specified.
Additionally, the municipality will seek funding to launch the Reef Museum in Puerto Nuevo, aiming to capitalize on the expected influx of visitors to this iconic location.
A directory of local restaurants will also be developed to showcase the region’s gastronomy to attendees.
“The Tianguis Turístico will take place here at Baja Center, and we need to be prepared,” she said.
“This is a great opportunity to attract more events in the future. That’s why we must be ready—hoteliers need to have their facilities in good condition and raise their standards.”
