Fiesta in La Misión, took place on the last weekend of May, bringing together families from across the state and even foreign visitors.
All enjoyed folkloric dances and a calabaceado dance competition, celebrating two years since this event was declared a Cultural Heritage of Baja California.
Sunday, the event featured the opening of the cowboy camp and the descent of the historical horseback ride, which commemorates the first expedition that camped at this site on its way to establish the Mission San Diego de Alcalá in 1769, thereby opening the Camino Real de California. This ride was led by Franciscan missionary Junipero Serra.
In the rodeo arena, families and visitors enjoyed a state rodeo competition, with participation from men and women from various municipalities in Baja California.
The grand national folklore festival included live music and the lighting of a monumental bonfire made with dry oak wood.
