The municipal government of Rosarito, led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, has officially prohibited the use, storage, distribution, and sale of fireworks throughout the city.
The decision aims to ensure the safety, peace, and well-being of Rosarito’s residents, while also protecting public health and the environment.

“I appreciate and acknowledge the work and commitment of the Office of the Comptroller, as well as the city council members for their vision and support of this initiative, which responds to a longstanding public demand,” stated Mayor Adame Muñoz.
This measure was unanimously approved during the most recent City Council session held on April 1, 2025, following the presentation and review of a proposal by the Commissions on Governance and Legislation, Public Safety, and Health and Environment.
According to Article 169-BIS of the Civic Order and Justice Regulations, violators may face fines ranging from 100 to 1,000 UMAS (Units of Measurement and Update) and up to 36 hours of detention, depending on the type of offense.
Additionally, Article 45 stipulates that during patriotic holidays, religious festivals, and large-scale social or entertainment events, individuals responsible for using fireworks must obtain prior authorization from the relevant authorities and comply with safety requirements to protect both attendees and the general public.
The reform modifies several local ordinances, including the Civic Order and Justice Regulations, Public Health Regulations, Fire Department Regulations, Environmental Protection Regulations, Domestic Animal Protection and Control Regulations, and the Internal Regulations of the Municipal Public Administration.
The municipal government urges the public to support this measure and report any incidents related to fireworks—including detonations, storage, manufacturing, and distribution—by calling 911.
A public call is being made to raise awareness and avoid endangering physical safety, particularly that of children and the elderly, as well as to prevent fires and harm to pets and local wildlife.
