The City Council of Playas de Rosarito has unanimously approved the acquisition of 20 portable body cameras for officers of the city’s Department of Public Safety.
The initiative aims to equip police personnel with specialized video recording tools to enhance the performance of their duties.
“In my administration, public safety is a top priority, and we are committed to using technology to improve the service we provide to the community. Additionally, this tool significantly contributes to the transparency of police actions,” stated Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz.
She added that this first phase of the project includes the purchase of 20 high-tech body-worn cameras for officers, with an investment of 1.425 million pesos. The package also includes an operational platform, proper training for equipment use, live data transmission services for up to 12 continuous hours, and secure video storage.
The devices will allow for real-time monitoring of officers’ activity, including GPS tracking—even when the cameras are turned off.
In another item on the agenda, the Council approved an investment of 3.95 million pesos to launch the Temporary Emergency Assistance Program, aimed at providing temporary employment and economic relief to residents of Playas de Rosarito experiencing financial hardship and unemployment.
A significant donation was also approved: a high-tech drone and accessories, valued at 129,964 pesos, from the Patronato Pro Bomberos A.C. This equipment will enhance the operational capabilities of the local fire department.
Additional approvals included:
- The Internal Regulations of the Economic Development Department
- Amendments related to fireworks regulations, public order, and civic justice
- Reforms to the municipal real estate cadastre regulations
- Budgetary adjustments for the 2025 Income Budget and related municipal entities (PRODEUR, IMAC, IMJUVER)
