Baja California boasts significant flower production, and after the pandemic, several farms and flower-growing areas opened their doors to the general public.

They now offer not only flowers, ranging from marigolds to sunflowers, but also food and handcrafted products.

Recognizing this diverse and emerging attraction, the State Secretary of Tourism decided to support local flower producers by launching the “Ruta de las Flores” (The Flower Route) project.

This initiative connects 40 local businesses, flower shops, and farms, which open to the public during harvest seasons and on special occasions and holidays.

During these openings, visitors have the chance to explore vast open-air flower fields, enjoying the seasonal variety of blooms with their vibrant colors and fragrances.

Guests can also purchase fresh flowers directly from the growers, making this a unique experience that blends nature’s beauty with floral artistry.

At the inauguration of the route, with flower growers from Tijuana and Rosarito in attendance, State Secretary of Tourism Miguel Aguiñiga Rodríguez noted that floral tourism emerged as a result of the pandemic, providing farmers the opportunity to diversify their income.

“During the pandemic, people wanted open spaces for recreation, and farmers opened their fields for people to explore—this was the first step in introducing the public to these areas,” he explained.

The route includes four farms from Cañón Los Alisos, four from Cañón Rosarito, four from El Descanso, and two from Ruta del Médano.
