The Baja California Secretariat of Education (SE) hosted the First State 5-on-5 Soccer Cup for Telesecundarias 2025, aimed at encouraging students’ interest in sports, fostering healthy competition, promoting inclusion, and strengthening school community bonds.

The final match was held this afternoon at the Reforma Rosarito sports complex, with participation from San Quintín, Tecate, Mexicali, Ensenada and Rosarito. A total of 11 teams competed, representing approximately 110 boys and girls from both divisions.

In her remarks, Secretary of Education Irma Martínez Manríquez emphasized the importance of organizing events that promote physical activity as a healthy habit among adolescents. She noted that the tournament brought together top athletes from both the girls’ and boys’ categories across six municipalities in the 5-on-5 soccer discipline.

“We work to spark students’ interest in sports, encouraging healthy competition and inclusive school interaction. Our goal is to foster talent development and athletic excellence, helping adolescents in telesecundarias develop healthful habits. Sports offer one of the best ways to practice and internalize the values our youth need, while also helping shape future champions in 5-on-5 soccer,” she said.

Francisco Dimitri González Solorio, state director of Physical Education and Sports, added that the 2025 State 5-on-5 Soccer Cup for Telesecundarias is becoming a key platform for expanding school sports and identifying young athletic talent in the state. He stated that the Secretariat will continue organizing events that promote healthy lifestyles.
