Race raises funds to support Rosarito Firefighters and the Red Cross
For the second consecutive year, Licores Don Pisto held its Corre con Causa 5K, an initiative that promotes physical activity while raising funds for local community causes.
This year’s proceeds will support the Rosarito Fire Department and the Red Cross through the Pro Bomberos Rosarito organization.
The race began at 8 a.m., bringing together runners, sponsors and firefighters at the Licores Don Pisto Castillos location, where the starting and finishing lines were set up.
In the men’s division, first place went to Mexicali marathon runner Daniel “Pollito” Valdez, who finished in 14 minutes and 55 seconds. Richard Pérez of Club Potros de Rosarito placed second with a time of 15:31, followed by Jesús Candelario of Veloz Team, who finished in 15:50.
In the women’s division, first place went to Fryshna Vianney Santaclara Cano of Club Potros de Rosarito, with a time of 17:30. Ariana Avila of Club Jaguares de Rosarito finished second in 18:11, while Lupita Cano of Club Potros placed third with a time of 19:25.
In the wheelchair division, Jesús Alejandro Terán Gómez took first place with a time of 14:21, followed by Jessy Gil Salgado, who finished in 15:38.
Organizers said the funds raised through the race will be used to bring a donated light-duty vehicle into service for the Rosarito Fire Department’s operations.
