Concepción Acosta Hernández, a member of the Education Commission of the Pro-Municipality Committee, reported that around 30 students from 10 elementary and middle schools participated.
She explained that one of the contest’s main goals is to strengthen Spanish language learning by developing reading, writing, and spelling skills.
She also noted that excessive use of digital technology has contributed to setbacks in language and communication subjects.
Another key objective is to foster local identity and a sense of belonging among children and youth by encouraging them to learn about the history of the city they live in.
First-place winners received a cash prize, second-place winners received a book and diploma, and third-place winners were awarded a diploma.
