More than 2,100 Benito Juárez federal scholarships were granted to high school students in Rosarito.
Young people and their parents formed long lines outside the Ernesto Ruffol Appel Auditorium to receive their “bienestar” cards, which they will use to collect the scholarship amount of 1,900 pesos every two months.
The process for obtaining the scholarship was completed online through the Government of Mexico’s website.
On Tuesday, April 15, and Wednesday, April 16, the cards were distributed to over 2,100 students from the COBACH Centro, COBACH Reforma, CECyTE Plan Libertador, CECyTE Primo Tapia, CECyTE Extensión La Misión, and CETMAR schools.
The regional coordinator of welfare programs, Angélica Hernández, stated that due to the large number of beneficiaries and limited staff available in Rosarito, they had to request support from Tecate to speed up the process.
“It’s not easy to deliver money to so many beneficiaries with such limited staff in Rosarito. We had to ask for help from Tecate to speed up the process, and fortunately, everything went smoothly,” she said.
For students who were unable to pick up their cards, she announced that a new delivery date would be scheduled and communicated to them in advance.
