For the first time, the Municipal Athletics League of Rosarito has been officially established, with sports promoter Raúl Quiroz Quezada taking the helm as its representative.
He was sworn in during a ceremony attended by municipal and state authorities.
“With this new era of athletics, this is the first formally established league in Rosarito, aiming to bring professionalism to the sport while maintaining its recreational appeal,” said Quiroz Quezada.
“More people are getting involved—not just in Sunday races but also in track competitions across various distances, categories, and disciplines. The goal is to enhance professionalism and refine athletic events in Rosarito.”
In its initial phase, the league aims to formalize its projects by establishing legal recognition through a notary and creating a logo while expanding its board of directors.
Once consolidated, it plans to promote all athletics disciplines, formalize events to ensure participant safety, and support local talent, projecting it to the state level.
Future goals include hosting a state championship or an athletics festival to engage the Rosarito community and identify emerging talents.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Gerardo Medina, president of the State Athletics Association, and Luis Medrano Bernal, Rosarito’s master athletics commissioner.
Key roles within the league were also announced: Cesar Díaz Felix as secretary and Jose Luis Medina Crispín as treasurer.
Several sports clubs were represented at the event, including Chechos Team, Club Rosarito Runners, Team Rueda, Club Jaguares, Club Osos Running, Club Potros, and Club Hércules.
This new league marks a significant step toward elevating athletics in Rosarito, aiming to inspire community participation while fostering an environment for talent development and competitive excellence.
