The associations Pioneros de Rosarito and ADEPPRO, in coordination with Instituto Bilingüe San Patricio and Liceo Miguel de Cervantes, organized Rosarito’s first Día de Muertos festival on Nov. 1st.

The event brought together nearly 1,000 people for an emotional procession through the city, culminating in a vibrant cultural show at the Machado Family Cemetery.

Attendees enjoyed a diverse program featuring marimba music, pre-Hispanic dances, and a performance by the university tuna, making Calavera Fest 2024 a lively and unforgettable celebration.

As part of the festivities, Pioneros de Rosarito pledged to rescue, preserve, and promote the traditions of Rosarito Beach.

This year’s altars were dedicated to Manuel Machado, one of the first residents of the region, and to Hugo Torres Chabert, a revered figure in the city who recently passed away.

“His legacy as a pioneer in the formation of Rosarito will remain in our memories,” organizers said, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters of this event that honors the roots of the Mexican community.
