Following their support for the appointment of the Tourism and Conventions Committee (COTUCO), restaurateurs will work with municipal authorities to promote and develop the city’s economy.
In this regard, Octavio Machado, the local president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods, stated that the intention is to collaborate with the new municipal cabinet to drive growth in the culinary industry.
Endorsing the appointment of Irán Verdugo as head of COTUCO, the chamber trusts in his experience within the tourism sector and believes he will address and support the needs of the culinary industry.
The restaurateur leader expressed that they have worked in coordination with COTUCO, achieving positive results, leading to good expectations for the restaurant sector, especially since the new director understands the needs of tourism service providers.
“We believe that with effective dialogue with the government, we will also strengthen the sector, especially to generate jobs, as one in four young people in Rosarito gain their work experience in a restaurant,” he stated.
He indicated that the chamber has topics to advance with the new city council, such as a single-window system to simplify and expedite procedures, including operation permits, environmental impact revalidations, and fire department approvals, which were campaign promises of the now mayor.
He added that the chamber aims to prepare for the Tourism Tianguis 2025, expecting the municipality to have the necessary infrastructure, security, and cleanliness to be a host that meets the demands of the significant number of visitors expected during this major binational event.
