Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz offered her government’s support for emblematic events that give identity to Rosarito Beach, such as the traditional Fiesta de las Fronteras cavalcade, which she attended on Oct. 6.
She stated that during her administration, support would be provided for such events to encourage new generations to participate in their continuity.
“I’m very pleased that these events continue because they are part of the identity of Rosarito Beach,” she said.
“We must remember that history comes from the ranches, and we cannot forget our origins. I will be available to help in any way necessary to revive these events that have been largely forgotten.
“Sometimes we only focus on the beach, but we must not overlook these events that are our origins, because if we go back in time, we see that the first settlers established themselves here.”
She emphasized that the new symbol of her administration includes the figure of a horse, alluding to the origins of Rosarito Beach.
“Knowing where we come from and the origins of Rosarito is very important. This is for the youth, so it should be taken to all schools so they can learn the history of their municipality.
In its 36th edition, the traditional Fiesta de las Fronteras, organized by the Society of History with the support of the Pedro Arias Guzmán Press Club, the cowboy community.
Sponsors saw around 700 horse riders and approximately 20 walkers who departed at different times from Mojonera de Palou in the upper part of Primo Tapia, heading toward Rancho San Patricio in Cañón Rosarito, where a fair took place.
The route spans 27 kilometers with a stop at the base of Cerro El Coronel, where horses could be given water.
Before the groups departed, a mass was held by Father Jesús García López from the Misioneros Guadalupanos church, followed by a civic ceremony coordinated by the mounted escort and the municipal military band.
At the event, Lua Newman Medina was crowned as the queen of the cavalcade, and saddles donated by sponsors were raffled off.
The organizing committee thanked the mayor for her support in
ensuring the continuity of this event, recalling that this year they faced difficulties due to the lack of support.
