guide children’s trip

By Delia Ruelas

In the second session of the summer program with the Rancho 40 community, Amigos de la Biblioteca (Friends of the Library) took children on an excursion to deepen their understanding of the reading material by exploring their surroundings.

The theme of the program is centered around the ranch and its animals. To better understand this environment, the group and visited Rancho Guacatay in Rosarito, to view goats, cows, chickens, donkeys, horses, pigs, turkeys, bees, dogs, worms, kittens, plants, and streams.

For many children, it was a unique experience, with some riding horses for the first time, milking cows, tasting fresh milk, picking raspberries, or feeding goats. Nature itself became the grand book, and the children were fully engaged, forming new connections.

This excursion was made possible thanks to regular donors who support the ongoing programs of Amigos de la Biblioteca.

Also contributing were Insignia Tours, the Church of God of Mercy from Rancho 40, and community ally Arling Gómez and Rancho Guacatay, where passionate individuals share their love and knowledge with visitors.

The success of the excursion was also due to the dedicated team of volunteers and reading promoters who organize, accompany, read, and play with the children, making the act of reading enjoyable and a part of their daily lives.
