A photographic exhibition showcasing the years-long struggle and resistance of trans activists at the border is at the Sala de Los Forjadores in Rosarito’s City Hall.
Susy Barrales Brigitte, president of the association Casita de UT in downtown Tijuana, was welcomed along with eight other activists from this movement by Rosarito Mayor Araceli Brown Figueredo and city officials.
Organizers of the exhibit reflected on the years of efforts dedicated to combating all forms of gender violence from the early years in children, adolescents to adulthood.
With more than 10 years of providing legal, psychological, and nutritional support at “Casita de UT,” they have managed to obtain humanitarian visas for more than 300 trans women who suffered various forms of transphobic violence.
In addition to raising awareness of this reality, the exhibition aims to foster greater consciousness, tolerance, and inclusion towards trans people among new generations.
The exhibition will be on display for several days in the Sala de los Forjadores on the second floor of the municipal building, given the absence of a city gallery to publicly showcase such exhibitions.
