Fire department personnel from neighboring municipalities participated in a course on techniques for the safe handling and containment of reptiles.
This training is important given the increased presence of reptiles during the hot season in rural areas.
Some of the topics covered in the course included: characteristics of reptiles, identification of venomous and non-venomous reptiles, handling tools such as the use of herpetological hooks, herpetological tongs for handling snakes.
This also includes the use of transport buckets with pressure lids and holes that allow the animals to breathe, which are essential for handling snakes.
