Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced that the long-awaited reconstruction of Boulevard 2000 is underway. The first works began recently in Tijuana, but the project will eventually extend to Rosarito.

This initiative is considered one of the administration’s top priorities, as the roadway carries up to 100,000 vehicles daily, according to the State Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Reorganization (SIDURT). Years of deterioration have fueled public complaints and contributed to accidents. The comprehensive rehabilitation seeks not only to improve mobility but also to increase road safety and boost economic development in the region.
“Construction has already started with the first earthworks in the initial kilometers,” Ávila Olmeda said. “Even though the first stage is in Tijuana, in the end this project will benefit Rosarito residents as well. The work will reach Rosarito.”
The modernization plan includes the addition of new toll lanes designed for heavy and long-haul vehicles, while rehabilitating existing lanes at no cost to motorists. Authorities estimate the improvements will reduce accidents by up to 75% and significantly improve traffic flow.
Hospital project in Primo Tapia
Regarding the long-requested hospital in Primo Tapia, the Governor described it as “a dream we all share and hope to make a reality soon.” The project responds to one of the main demands of southern Rosarito, where no hospital infrastructure currently exists.
She also announced future water and sanitation projects for the area aimed at improving residents’ quality of life.
Community health fair in Rosarito

Governor Ávila Olmeda recently attended a community health fair at the Tonantzin Community Center in Colonia Constitución, accompanied by Rosarito Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz and State Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas.
The event offered residents medical and social services, while giving both the Governor and Mayor an opportunity to hear community concerns directly.
