City council members have unanimously approved a significant budget allocation to kickstart the urban regeneration of Popotla Boulevard.

The approved public works package, totaling nearly 30 million pesos, aims to develop a tourist hub and enhance the district’s appeal.

“The goal is to restore the artisan district and highlight the important work of local artisans in this area. Additionally, all our projects incorporate an inclusive design,” stated Mayor Rocío Adame in response to council members’ requests.

She added that the revitalization concept is expected to be replicated at several points along Benito Juarez Boulevard, making it more attractive, pedestrian-friendly, and accessible for visitors.

The project will include streetlight repairs and coordinated efforts with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the mayor confirmed.

Officials anticipate construction to begin as soon as possible, with a completion deadline before April 28, when Rosarito will host the “World Tourism Tianguis.”

During discussions, several council members called for an urgent meeting with CFE executives to investigate the frequent power outages affecting the city.

These blackouts have caused significant economic losses for Rosarito’s businesses, they noted.
