In an effort to improve the appearance of Popotla Artisan Boulevard, local artisans are promoting a project to restore and beautify this iconic roadway.
The initiative is being coordinated by former COTUCO president Edgar Orozco Zamora, with support from business owners and in collaboration with the municipal government.
The plan involves contributions from both merchants and local authorities to fund the restoration of the boulevard.
Key actions proposed include repairing damaged sculptures, installing new ones, adding more murals, and replacing the existing signage at the entrance to Popotla Boulevard.
“We’re starting by replacing the letters at the entrance with a sculpture,” he said.
“Another contributor will place a new sculpture on a base, while someone else will use an existing base for their installation. Some colleagues are donating paint to maintain the existing sculpture bases. “We’re seeking additional support from local businesses. The idea is for the municipality to help with labor while we provide the materials.”
The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by next summer.
“This is an effort we are making despite three tough years for our business. We’re determined to improve the image of the boulevard,” he added.
