Forty elementary school students enjoyed a visit to the San Diego Zoo as recognition for their academic achievements, thanks to the sponsorship of the Rosarito Rotary Club and the Golden Triangle Rotary Club of La Joya.

This traditional outing has been organized for 20 years.

Jessica Jesús Zavala Sámano, delegate of the Secretary of Education, said students were selected based on their excellence in academic, cultural or sports activities, as well as their participation in municipal or state events and competitions.

She also praised the commitment of civic organizations, particularly the Rosarito Rotary Club and the La Joya Triangle Club, which undertake projects that benefit students’ socio-emotional development and knowledge.

She said: “We appreciate the support they provide year after year; we know their commitment to the community is significant, and we are grateful for the opportunities they create for children who may not have the means to visit such parks. We trust our students will make the most of this trip.”

Daniel Mario Escobar Vargas, president of the Rosarito Rotary Club, emphasized that for over 20 years, both clubs have collaborated with the educational department to ensure that the trip offers students more knowledge about the natural world.

The Rosarito Rotary Club and the Golden Triangle Rotary Club of La Joya provided free transportation for the students, covered the zoo entrance for accompanying teachers, and supplied meals for all participants.
