Rosarito’s social running scene continues to grow, bringing together hundreds of people of all ages each week for exercise, recreation and community.
Every Monday, children, teenagers, young adults and older residents gather for a family-friendly evening of running. Some participate with their families, others with friends or partners, while many join as individual runners.
On Monday, August 24, more than 400 runners took part in a five-kilometer route along Benito Juárez Boulevard.
The group started near the Emiliano Zapata sports fields, ran south along the boulevard and then returned to the starting point.
The weekly runs receive support from the Rosarito municipal government through its youth and sports departments, while the Secretariat of Citizen Security provides traffic safety with patrol vehicles and motorcycle officers.
The Mexican Red Cross also provides an ambulance as part of the event’s preventive and medical safety measures.
Beyond promoting physical activity, the runs have become opportunities for recreation and social connection, giving residents a chance to spend time together outdoors in a healthy, family-friendly environment.
At least four running groups currently organize events throughout the week, using different forms of entertainment to create a festive atmosphere, including DJs and live music groups.
