Students of visual artist Amy Gastelum showcase their work in an exhibition at Rosarito Art Factory
The creativity and talent of students of visual artist Amy Gastelum were on display Saturday, August 15, during a painting exhibition at Rosarito Art Factory on Popotla Boulevard.
The students showcased works inspired by nature, energy, the human body, the universe, characters and everyday situations, reflecting the skills and creative techniques they have developed through their studies.
Gastelum, who teaches visual arts at Rosarito Art Factory, located at Kilometer 33 on Popotla Boulevard, said one of the participating groups consists of eight students ranging in age from 10 to more than 70.
“We have two oil painting groups. This time, we are presenting some of the progress made by eight students, each working with different themes and gradually developing their own styles and discovering the subjects they enjoy most,” Gastelum said.
“We share our experiences and knowledge, and I guide them through the creative processes they want to achieve,” she added.
Among the featured students was Fernanda Sánchez, who said she has found in painting a way to express her emotions and maintain mental and spiritual balance.
Although she discovered her interest in painting at a young age and had taken classes previously, Sánchez said working with Gastelum has given her an opportunity to further develop her creative process professionally.
She said painting has allowed her to express her connection with nature and what she considers a path toward healing and spiritual balance.
“Many times, people become ill because they do not speak or express themselves. That is why it is important to work on opening and strengthening the throat chakra,” Sánchez said during the exhibition. “Activities such as painting or yoga can be very important for mental health and spiritual balance.”
The exhibition brought together students from different generations, showcasing their individual artistic styles and the creative process they have developed through their work.
