The 13th edition of Ópera Frente al Mar (Opera by the Sea) was held with great success at the State Center for the Arts (CEART), featuring a musical repertoire for the whole family and more than 40 performers from across Mexico on stage.

The event was part of the Rosarito Operatic Encounter 2025, which also included open rehearsals and master classes for the public. This year’s program highlighted the festival’s international scope, with guest performers from Puerto Rico and Colombia.

For the first time, the evening included a set of Disney film classics. The opening block featured selections from The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Wicked. Local young talents performed pieces from The Phantom of the Opera, along with a work inspired by the writings of Federico García Lorca. A colorful highlight came with the traditional Chinese Lion Dance, performed by students of the Chinese Martial Arts and Dance Institute.

The second half of the concert returned to the operatic repertoire, with scenes from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) and Puccini’s Turandot, featuring some of opera’s most celebrated arias, including O zittre nicht, Pa–pa–pa, Nessun dorma, and Principessa di morte.

The festival also welcomed the participation of Enjambre Huellitas, a local nonprofit that set up an information booth to promote pet adoption and responsible pet ownership. True to its mission of community engagement, the event remained family-friendly and entirely free to the public.
