With the goal of preventing addiction and promoting youth health, COBACH Reforma held its first-ever Expo on Safety and Health on Tuesday, June 10, at the school campus.

While the event focused primarily on fentanyl prevention, it also aimed to raise awareness of various public health and addiction prevention programs offered by municipal, state, and federal agencies.

Melissa Camacho, director of educational services at COBACH, explained that the Expo on Safety and Health has been held since 2023 to help students become familiar with government-run prevention initiatives.

“Agencies focused on addiction control are participating, and we’ve also included the Sports and Cultural Institutes because they offer strong support in addressing addiction and mental health challenges,” Camacho said. “Many students ask how to cope with depression and anxiety, and our response is to create alternative activities that motivate young people to engage in art, sports, and culture.”

The event also featured a K9 demonstration as part of the official safety protocol. Trained dogs conducted mock inspections of students’ belongings—a routine procedure carried out with parental support and in accordance with school guidelines.

“This is the first edition in Rosarito,” Camacho noted, “but we’ve been organizing these expos across the state. Our main goal is to keep young people away from addiction.”

As part of the event, students received vaccinations against various illnesses, and informational brochures were distributed outlining government prevention programs.
