With the goal of promoting artistic development in early education, preschool teachers gathered for the event PreescolArte: Encuentro de Experiencias Exitosas, where they shared classroom projects designed to integrate the arts into daily learning.
At the preschool level, the arts are seen as a vital developmental area, helping children explore and appreciate a range of artistic expressions that stimulate curiosity, creativity, imagination, sensitivity, and aesthetic awareness.
During the event, three preschool educators presented projects developed using PreescolArte teaching materials as part of their lesson planning. According to organizers, the projects had a meaningful impact on students’ learning in the arts.
The participating teachers were Ericka Avalos Celis from Jardín de Niños Alejandro Fleming (Zone 51), Azucena Lijano Sandez from Emiliano Zapata Preschool (Zone 60), and Aida Elizabeth García Valenzuela from María Montessori Preschool (Zone XXII). The goal of the event was to encourage more teachers to adopt the PreescolArte materials and enhance arts-based instruction in the classroom.
“It’s essential that we continue placing the arts at the heart of our preschool teaching practice,” said Juan Carlos Huerta Ávila, delegate from the Baja California Department of Education. “By doing so, we strengthen our educational work and ultimately improve the holistic development of our students, offering them a richer and more complete education.”
Huerta emphasized that artistic development at this age is focused on allowing children to discover and value diverse forms of artistic expression. These experiences are meant to nurture creativity, spontaneity, initiative, and imagination from an early age.
