With strong community support, the first edition of the Puerto Nuevo Art Market was held at the recently restored Puerto Nuevo Museum, a venue that will now host the event on the first Saturday of every month.
This new initiative aims to create a vibrant meeting space for artists and the public, promoting Rosarito’s creative economy and strengthening its cultural fabric. The project aligns with the broader vision of transforming the museum into a cultural and tourism landmark for southern Rosarito.
The Puerto Nuevo Art Market is a grassroots effort led by local artists and presented to María Isabel Peredo Quezada, director of the Rosarito Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture (IMAC), who has supported its launch. The inaugural edition featured well-known artists from the region, including Armando Becris, Germán Rubio, Tania Olivares, Irene Leal, Carlos Delgato, Scott Kennedy, Ami Gastelum, Cristina Rendón, Gregorio Rodríguez, Elizabeth, Isabel Pantoja, and Edgar Zepeda.
According to artist Ami Gastelum, the project emerged in response to the shrinking number of exhibition spaces available to local artists and the growing need for sustainable sales channels. She and fellow artist Cristina Rendón have taken on the organization of the market, with logistical and promotional support from IMAC Rosarito and the collaborative spirit of participating artists, all committed to positioning art as a driver of both economic and social development.
Rosarito is home to a large and talented artistic community. Supporting their work not only enhances personal and public spaces but also represents a smart cultural investment that reinforces the region’s identity.
The project seeks to elevate local creators, establish new cultural spaces, and stimulate cultural tourism—reflecting Rosarito’s creative and welcoming spirit.
The next edition of the Puerto Nuevo Art Market will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025. For details on participating artists and schedules, follow the event’s social media pages at El Puerto Nuevo Art Market, an independent initiative powered by local talent.
