The 2025 edition of Mexico’s Tianguis Turístico exceeded expectations and made history by breaking a Guinness World Record on April 29, gathering over 7,000 attendees and becoming the most visited national tourism fair in the world. Local tourism leaders praised the event’s success and lasting impact on the industry.

The local president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (CANIRAC) said the event surpassed expectations across the board—from cultural programming and gastronomy to destination promotion, image, and overall organization.

“The participation of local talent—from restaurants and tour operators to other stakeholders in the tourism sector—was of a quality worthy of any major Tianguis Turístico,” he said.

He noted the event set a new benchmark for Baja California, particularly through its vibrant opening celebration. “It was a spectacular celebration, unlike anything we’ve seen before in Baja California. This event gave Rosarito great visibility. In the short and medium term, we expect this exposure to lead to increased investment and wider recognition as a tourist destination. Many restaurateurs who didn’t know Rosarito left impressed, now seeing it as a promising place to do business.”

Tourism Sector Aiming for Greater Professionalization

The CANIRAC leader emphasized that one of the key lessons from the event was the need for continued professional development within the sector.

“We’re giving our best in every area, but we still have a long way to go. This event has shown us the importance of raising professional standards. Although it was a major celebration and we gave it our all, we continue to identify areas of opportunity to improve both the tourism product and service quality.”

CANIRAC Coordinated Gastronomic Showcase at ‘Welcome to Rosarito’

CANIRAC played a leading role in organizing the Welcome to Rosarito event, which highlighted the city’s culinary offerings. “The event truly showcased the best of Rosarito,” he said. “There weren’t high expectations going in, but people came out very happy and impressed.”

Strong Hotel Occupancy Among Participating Properties

César Rivera, President of the Rosarito Hotel and Motel Association, reported that participating hotels reached a 95 percent occupancy rate during the Tianguis. He emphasized the competitiveness of Rosarito’s hospitality offerings, noting that this was one of the longest overnight stays recorded for the event, as attendees began arriving as early as Thursday.
