After a decisive 46–23 victory over the Tijuana squad, Rosarito’s under-15 basketball team, known as “Cochilokos,” has secured a spot in the 2025 Elite National Tournament.

Led by coach Guillermo Castro, the team demonstrated its strong preparation and competitive edge, proving they have what it takes to face off against the best teams in the country. Teams from Ensenada and Mexicali also earned their place in the national championship.

In the qualifying match, the Rosarito team’s performance was dominant, showcasing the results of their disciplined training and teamwork. The win marks a major milestone for the young athletes—many of whom will be competing at the national level for the very first time.

While the team celebrates the opportunity, the qualification has also sparked concern among some parents over the financial burden of attending the national tournament.

“We’ll sell bottled water at intersections—whatever it takes to get them there,” said several proud and determined mothers, underscoring both the excitement and the challenges ahead.
