The first dog socialization event at Rosarito’s Municipal Dog Shelter was a great success, drawing over 30 volunteers who visited the facility to walk and interact with the sheltered dogs.

According to Liz López, spokesperson for Voluntariado Rosarito, the activity aimed to provide the dogs with love and relief from the stress of being confined in cages 24/7.

These walks contribute to their rehabilitation and help them regain trust in people. Additionally, the event allowed volunteers to identify which dogs are fully adaptable to a home environment.

More than 50 dogs participated in the event, each hoping for another chance at a loving home. Every walk brings them one step closer to adoption.

The event was supported by Miguel Rivera, a key advocate for the initiative, which was inspired by Voluntariado Tijuana.

The next socialization activity will take place soon, with details to be shared on the Voluntariado Rosarito Facebook page, where photos of adoptable dogs are also posted.

Liz López also emphasized the importance of spaying and neutering, highlighting how these procedures prevent overpopulation and abandonment, ultimately giving animals a chance at a dignified life.
