Members of the Pro-Municipality Committee remain committed to their central mission: honoring the history and struggles that led to the creation of Rosarito, Baja’s Fifth Municipality.
Nancy Hernández Villela, president of the committee, confirmed that the dates for preliminary events commemorating Rosarito’s first 30 years have been set.
These events are being organized in collaboration with municipal authorities, led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz.
“We are very excited because this June 29, Rosarito will celebrate 30 years since its municipalization. It was an achievement made possible by the dedication and efforts of men and women who fought with great determination to make this happen,” she said.
A key objective of the Pro-Municipality Committee is to promote a deep sense of identity and pride in Rosarito’s history through every available means.
The celebrations are set to begin in March with the inauguration of a mural at City Hall, followed by monthly events leading up to the anniversary.
In April, the third writing contest will take place, engaging elementary students. In May, a series of lectures will be held at high schools and universities, highlighting this historic movement and the perseverance of Rosarito’s residents.
Regarding the historical mural, Nancy Hernández emphasized that authorization has already been secured for visual artist Carlos Delgado to paint it on a wall along the staircase on City Hall’s third floor.
“This is a one-of-a-kind piece, created by a talented young local muralist whose work has even been featured in the new free textbooks,” she noted.
Finally, Hernández Villela confirmed that final details for the mural’s completion are being coordinated with the Municipal Institute of Art and Culture, Civic Action, the Cabinet Coordination Office, and the State Education System, among other entities.
