Monsignor Joseph Spiteri, Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico, visited Rosarito to deliver a message of faith and hope. The Pope’s ambassador in Mexico met with the Catholic community at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in the city’s downtown area.
This visit was part of a pastoral tour through the municipalities within the Metropolitan Archdiocese, accompanied by Archbishop Francisco Moreno Barrón and other priests.
During the gathering, representatives from Rosarito’s six parishes had the chance to greet and pose questions to Monsignor Spiteri.
Ángel Muñoz, a representative of the Youth Movement from the Blessed Sacrament Parish in the Constitución neighborhood, asked the Apostolic Nuncio about his impression of Mexico’s youth and Pope Francis’ message for 2025.
Monsignor Spiteri urged young people to remain steadfast in their faith during these challenging times, emphasizing the need for discernment, charity, and love for others.
“The negative structures in our lives can only be transformed by doing good. Hatred cannot be overcome with hatred, nor violence with violence, but with God’s mercy, always keeping in mind His justice,” he said.
He also highlighted Pope Francis’ call for young people to create “constructive noise”by standing firm in their ideals and doing good in the face of injustice.
Quoting the Pope, he added: “A young person who remains idle is a dead old man,”encouraging creativity, courage, and joy in life.
The visit concluded with a traditional performance of the Dance of the Little Old Men by young members of the Purépecha community from Constitución’s third section, offering a cultural farewell to Pope Francis’ representative in Mexico.
