Participants gathered at the Aquatic Center on Sunday, Dec. 1, for the second edition of the Aquathlon, an event marked by improved organization and heightened safety measures, according to attendees.

The event was coordinated with the Municipal Sports Institute, which supported the Aquatic Center in organizing this competition aimed at promoting physical activity and discipline among recreational users as well as high-performing young athletes.

Families and friends of the participants came to show their support, with safety ensured by two ambulances and a first-aid team on-site. Participants were also awarded commemorative medals.

Francisco Carrasco, head of sports promotion at the Municipal Sports Institute, praised the event’s organization and congratulated the participants for their dedication and performance.

The competition involved jogging, walking, or running followed by swimming in the semi-Olympic pool, with distances tailored to each participant’s physical endurance.

“All I can do is congratulate everyone for their participation in such a lively and energetic event. From high-performance child athletes to health-conscious individuals, everyone gave their best,” said Carrasco.

He also confirmed that similar events are planned for the coming year with the continued support of the institute.
