Six members of the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters successfully completed the paramedic course as part of the first graduating class of the Prehospital Medical Emergencies Technician Academy.

Over 11 months, these firefighters and lifeguards received certification from the Secretariat of Health and the National Council for Normalization and Certification of Labor Competencies (CONOCER), allowing them to serve as Prehospital Medical Emergencies Technicians.

This certification enables them to provide immediate care to patients during emergencies.

According to Jorge Olvera Negrete, a volunteer with the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters and coordinator of the Basic Prehospital Medical Care Academy, 25 individuals enrolled in the course, but only six completed it.

This demonstrates the challenging nature of the program, which aims to professionalize those who chose to undergo training voluntarily.

During the recognition and helmet presentation ceremony, the efforts of the graduates were acknowledged as they became the first graduates of this academy.

They serve as role models. Moving forward, they will need to continue their training every four years to keep their knowledge and skills up to date.
