The 100 Years of the RBH

Recognizing 100 years of tourism services, the Baja California Secretary of Culture presented a plaque to Hugo Antonio Torres, president of the board of directors of the Rosarito Beach Hotel, during the July 20 centennial celebration of the legendary hotel.
Secretary Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos highlighted that the process to declare the hotel a historical and cultural heritage site has been completed, with the approval of the State Government and the Heritage Council.
In the coming weeks, a plaque will be unveiled to acknowledge the social and cultural importance of the largest hotel in the region,
“We recognize this historic hotel, founded in 1924 by the visionary Manuel Barbachano and his wife María Luisa Chabert, and later brought to its full splendor by Don Hugo Torres, President of the Board of Directors until 2020. His 46-year legacy is now continued through his son,” stated the Secretary of Culture.
She also acknowledged all the staff who have worked at Hotel Rosarito Beach, emphasizing their invaluable role in the history of Rosarito’s tourism, and cultural sectors.
Hugo Antonio Torres, expressed gratitude for his father’s and all staff’s dedication and commitment to customer service, making the hotel one of the most important in the region.
The grand evening began with a musical journey, featuring the magnificent performance of Tiko’s Big Band, which presented four sets of music, each capturing the essence of a different era.
Attendees also enjoyed a classic car exhibition, with participation from clubs in Tijuana and Rosarito. Additionally, VIP guests enjoyed wine tastings and received a commemorative engraved wine glass as a memento of the event.
