The State Center for the Arts (CEART) has announced the 79th International Film Showcase, featuring some of the most acclaimed and award-winning films from major film festivals around the world.

With screenings taking place across multiple venues, Baja California will host more locations than any other state participating in the National Cinematheque’s 79th International Film Showcase.

The festival was officially unveiled during a press conference led by Baja California Secretary of Culture Alma Delia Ábrego Ceballos, joined by Erika Guerrero, coordinator of cultural services management at the State Institute of Culture of Baja California (ISCBC), and Carlos Sarabia, coordinator of cinematic activities.

Screenings will run from June 5 through June 24, 2026, with free admission for the public.

The showcase will feature 13 films recognized at prestigious festivals including Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, with works by acclaimed filmmakers such as Lav Diaz, Albert Serra, Fatih Akin, Bi Gan, Hlynur Pálmason, and Nicolás Pereda.

Widely regarded as one of the premier platforms for contemporary cinema, the International Film Showcase brings together some of the most celebrated productions on the global festival circuit.

Featured screenings include:

  • A Home Behind Bars (South Korea), Friday, June 5, at 6 p.m.
  • The Love That Remains (Iceland-Denmark-Sweden-France), Saturday, June 6, at 6 p.m.
  • Case 137 (France), Sunday, June 7, at 6 p.m.
  • The Girl from Cologne (Germany-Poland-Belgium), Monday, June 8, at 6 p.m.

Additional internationally recognized films will be presented throughout the showcase.

CEART’s International Film Showcase is an initiative of the Baja California Ministry of Culture, organized in collaboration with the National Cinematheque and Cinépolis, with the goal of bringing the best of world cinema to local audiences.
