Comex brand ambassador and renowned muralist Enrique Chiu has begun creating murals on pedestrian bridges throughout Rosarito, giving these structures a more positive and vibrant appearance.

Despite low temperatures, Comex staff and Chiu—accompanied by personnel from the City—took part in the first painting session on one of the busiest pedestrian bridges, which connects the Reforma neighborhood to Lucio Blanco. Their participation reflects a genuine interest in transforming these public spaces.

Through this initiative, Comex reaffirms its commitment to art as a vehicle for positive change. A total of 11 bridges will be transformed in collaboration with the community and Chiu, who aim to create murals featuring imagery representative of Rosarito, with the goal of strengthening local identity and community pride.

“This project had been discussed with Comex for some time, but now we are carrying it out as a brand initiative with the support of DIF, an agency we’ve worked with before—such as painting the park in La Mina, among other projects. This time, we want to bring light and life to public spaces like these bridges by adding color and symbolic murals created with the community. The goal is to leave behind unique images that reflect the character of the area,” Chiu explained.

For the first bridge, the team chose to paint a mural depicting a farm and cows, recalling the old agricultural area known as La Tomatera, once home to tomato fields and livestock. “It’s something symbolic and colorful for the people who cross this bridge,” he added.

Notably, this bridge previously had no artwork or murals, making this the first time it has been transformed by a nationally recognized artist.
