With her workshop “The day-to-day of a cultural enterprise,” internationally recognized artist Aida Valencia offered insight into her career as a successful cultural entrepreneur during a session held at the State Center for the Arts (CEART) in Rosarito.

The event was geared toward artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural agents, with the goal of strengthening their management skills and improving the long-term sustainability of their creative projects.

Valencia—an artist, curator, and cultural promoter—shared tools and strategies she has developed over the course of her professional journey, highlighting both the challenges and the opportunities of building a career in the cultural sector.

“Being both an artist and an entrepreneur is a complex combination, but it’s not impossible,” she said. “The key is to believe in your vision while also understanding the operational, legal, and financial aspects of each project.”

Throughout the workshop, participants explored themes such as cultural project sustainability, audience development, collaborative practices, and institutional partnerships.

“Art isn’t just created—it’s managed and defended,” Valencia added. “That’s why we need to be prepared to sustain our projects over time.”

Marco Nuño, coordinator of CEART Playas de Rosarito, emphasized the importance of creating learning spaces to strengthen the local cultural community.
“Workshops and conferences like this one provide valuable tools for artists—not just to grow creatively, but also to evolve as cultural managers,” he said. “CEART is committed to being an open space for sharing knowledge and empowering the sector.”

Aida Valencia also serves as director of the First and Second International Mosaic Symposiums in Mexico, both organized in partnership with renowned Italian mosaic artist Giulio Menossi. The events, held at CEART Rosarito in 2023 and 2025, brought together national and international artists for collective art-making, talks, and exhibitions.

The results of the Second International Mosaic Symposium are currently on display in CEART’s Conference Hall. The exhibition is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
