The Rosarito Beach Hotel will once again serve as a backdrop for a Netflix series, with filming set to begin soon in various locations across Rosarito, Tijuana, and Ensenada.

This was announced by business leader and film industry promoter Gustavo Torres, who revealed that this new project will have a significant impact on Rosarito’s international promotion.

The series will highlight positive aspects and iconic tourist sites in the region as part of the Tianguis Turístico celebration.

Although he did not disclose specific details, Mr. Torres confirmed that it is a Mexican drama and romance series that will not focus on themes of violence or drug trafficking.

The series will feature Mexican actors and renowned producers who have worked on successful films, such as Fear the Walking Dead, which was also filmed at the hotel.

Tentative start dates for filming are set for late February and early March in Mexico City.

Later, from late March through April and May, filming will continue in various locations in Rosarito, mainly at the pier and the historic section of Hotel Rosarito. The story’s main character will live in an old house, which will serve as the historical setting within the hotel.

Additional scenes will be shot in Puerto Nuevo and along the scenic highway to Ensenada, showcasing the natural beauty and coastal views of what is considered one of the most picturesque highways in the country.

Torres Ramírez stated that this new production presents an opportunity to position Rosarito as an attractive destination for the film industry, especially after the crisis caused by the closure of the international Fox Studios and the elimination of tax incentives for the Mexican film industry.

“Filming projects have declined since Baja Studios was converted into an industrial zone. However, with this new production, we believe the industry will see a resurgence,” he said.
