With a federal investment of 36 million pesos, the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (SEDATU) inaugurated a new sports infrastructure at El Profe sports field in the Lucio Blanco neighborhood.

The new facility will be dedicated to the practice of boxing and artistic gymnastics, two sports gaining popularity among Rosarito youth.

While the sports complex was built with federal funds, the equipment was provided by the municipal government through the Municipal Sports Institute.

Enrique Manuel Cunningham Santana, SEDATU’s representative in Baja California, and Rosarito Mayor Araceli Brown led the inauguration ceremony on the afternoon of Monday, Aug, 5.

Children and youth showcased their skills in artistic gymnastics and boxing. Artistic gymnastics was demonstrated by Janeth Álvarez Dorado, while boxing was presented by coach Francisco Mendívil Martínez.

SEDATU’s representative mentioned that this facility is one of four projects underway in Rosarito as part of the urban improvement program. Two have been completed, and two are still in progress.

The new facility provides a valuable opportunity for children and young people from local neighborhoods to develop their skills in these two sports disciplines.
