Hotel occupancy reached 100% on Saturday as the city closed out the summer holiday weekend

Rosarito saw strong tourism activity over the Labor Day holiday weekend, with hotel occupancy reaching 100% on Saturday, September 5, according to the Playas de Rosarito Hotel and Motel Association.

Hotel occupancy stood at 71% on Friday and rose to 100% on Saturday before settling at 81% on Sunday.

César Rivera González, president of the association, said the results reflect ongoing tourism promotion efforts, particularly in Southern California, one of Rosarito’s key visitor markets, as well as efforts by the local hospitality industry to strengthen the quality and variety of services offered to visitors.

“Closing out the summer season with these occupancy levels is a very positive result and confirms the importance of maintaining ongoing promotion in our main markets,” Rivera said. “It shows that Rosarito continues to be an attractive destination for visitors from Southern California.”

Rivera said Rosarito’s combination of beaches, restaurants, hotels, outdoor activities and nature-based experiences allows the city to attract different types of visitors throughout the year. Favorable weather conditions also contributed to the holiday weekend’s tourism activity.

He also highlighted coordination between the hotel association, the Rosarito Tourism and Conventions Committee and the Baja California Secretariat of Tourism on efforts to promote the destination and strengthen its position in regional tourism.

While Labor Day marks the end of the major summer holiday weekends in the United States, Rivera noted that September brings another opportunity to attract regional visitors with Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations, known as the “Fiestas Patrias.”
