Roma Barbershop celebrated its 65th anniversary, marking three generations of the Moreno family who have carried on the tradition founded by Ángel Moreno Pérez. The family’s strong values and human touch have defined the business over the years, during which they have opened a total of 30 barbershops. Roma Barbershop has endured through ups and downs, said Mario Moreno during the anniversary event held at Hotel Rosarito, a recognized Cultural Heritage site of Baja California.

Barber Elías Narváez noted that when he first arrived in Rosarito, only Ángel Moreno Pérez was offering barber services. He acknowledged the founder’s legacy and congratulated the family for maintaining the business for 65 years.

Hotel Rosarito board chairman, Hugo Antonio Torres Ramírez, also recognized the enduring legacy of the family-owned barbershop, a business that has persevered through changing economic conditions both locally and regionally, much like the hotel itself. He offered his congratulations to the Moreno family, calling their company one of the most important in Rosarito’s history.

“Sixty-five years may sound simple, but it’s a long time. The hotel just celebrated 100 years… We make it a priority to support local businesses, especially now when the economy is slow across Mexico. We need to support local people, especially those with history, like Mario,” he said.

During the event, organizers introduced the new Roma Noticias magazine, which will begin distribution in January 2026 with a circulation of 5,000 copies. The publication aims to share positive community news from both Rosarito and Tijuana. They also announced the “Bus Barber,” a mobile unit designed to provide free haircuts as a social service at various locations and events.

Mario Moreno shared that his father became a leading figure in Tijuana’s barbering scene 65 years ago thanks to his simplicity and warmth—qualities he believes cannot be replaced by technology or the modern machines now capable of offering razor-cut services as part of the industry’s evolution.
