The Rosarito City Council plans to allocate a budget of 1,226 million pesos for 2026, representing an increase of 126 million pesos compared to 2025.

The additional funds will primarily support operational areas and public services, including pothole repair, public lighting, cleaning, security, fire departments, and civil protection. Part of the increase will also go toward acquiring equipment for public works.

Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz explained that the budget will address the public service priorities most demanded by residents, as well as strengthen civil protection and public safety capabilities.

“Public services are our priority—public lighting, pothole repair, security, fire departments, civil protection, including a C2 center with Civil Protection… I believe these are among the most important initiatives for the coming year,” Adame Muñoz said in a media interview.

Regarding new personnel, she clarified that there will be no increase in positions at this time. Instead, staff will be redistributed to reinforce operational areas and public works, utilizing even unionized employees where needed.

“We are working on redistributing personnel. Some of our colleagues in other areas, including unionized staff, are being requested to strengthen certain departments,” she said.

On the subject of property tax, the mayor confirmed that there will be no rate increases, only adjustments and updates to property values to ensure fairer collection.

“Adjustments had not been made in 10 years. We concluded it was necessary to update cadastral data. Some homogeneous zones were removed because they shared the same characteristics, and new ones were added to allow proper collection. People living in high-value beachfront condominiums cannot pay the same as those far from the coast. Additionally, certain fees that were previously excluded must now be collected,” the mayor explained.
