Technical crews from CESPT carried out intensive repair work on a potable water leak along the tourist section of Benito Juárez Boulevard this past weekend.
The efforts lasted throughout Saturday, November 29, and required a temporary suspension of service in the Magisterial, Zona Centro and Hacienda Villa Floresta neighborhoods.
Municipal police assisted by restricting traffic along a section of the northbound lane of Benito Juárez Boulevard.
The leak became evident early in the morning, when large amounts of water began seeping through the edges of the pavement, quickly flooding several businesses in the tourist area.
CESPT immediately deployed technical personnel and heavy machinery to break through the hydraulic concrete and begin locating and repairing the leak in an eight-inch water line.
Crews removed approximately five square meters of concrete, later breaking additional sections to create sufficient space for repair work.
Once the damaged pipe was located and the area cleared, workers carried out the necessary procedures to replace the affected tubing.
The repair was completed later that same afternoon, followed by soil backfilling and compaction, paving the way for the installation of new pavement.
It is worth noting that the concrete in this area was installed 13 years ago as part of a full reconstruction project on Benito Juárez Boulevard, an effort continued by subsequent administrations until reaching the Quintas del Mar area, where the project was halted.
