Four boxers from Rosarito’s Paco Cuesta Club, part of the Municipal Sports Institute (IMDER), were crowned champions in their respective categories at the 2025 SNEBA-WBC National Amateur Boxing Championship. The event took place in Ciudad Obregón from September 18 to 21.

The tournament brought together more than 200 male and female fighters from across Mexico, representing states including Baja California, Sonora, Querétaro, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Colima, Chiapas, Sinaloa, Guanajuato, and the State of Mexico.

The venue, the “Manuel Lira García” Municipal Gymnasium, became the epicenter of amateur boxing, showcasing young athletes committed to discipline and perseverance. Winners earned a direct ticket to represent Mexico in the upcoming world championship.

More than 100 matches were held throughout the tournament, where Rosarito’s boxers stood out for their dedication and talent. All four train at IMDER’s Andrés Luna Sports Complex in Colonia Reforma.

From Club Paco Cuesta, the champions included:

  • Miguel Walker, champion in the 66–69 kg division.
  • Julio Cesar Vázquez, champion in the 69–72 kg division.
  • Cristopher Beltrán, champion in the 72–75 kg division.
  • Criss Hernández, champion in the 54–57 kg division.

One of the most emotional moments of the event was a tribute to Humberto “La Zorrita” Soto, former four-division world champion (featherweight, super featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight), who attended in person to honor the new generation of fighters.
